New Ways to Achieve Knowledge & Conversation
Writer’s note: Now that we all use AI to get precises of written articles (I certainly do), I thought I’d just write in that format. Here goes:
- Achieving “Knowledge & Conversation” of the Holy Guardian Angel, or HGA, is a central concept in Western esotericism.
- Many would say you will get nowhere without it.
- Much-maligned esotericist, Aleister Crowley, made it a central focus of his work. Likewise, pretty much all Western esoteric groups speak of it.
- But what actually is this HGA?
- It’s actually not some kind of “guardian spirit,” tasked with keeping you safe. Rather it’s the more kick-ass spiritual entity that will lead you on a deep developmental journey – giving you the challenges you need to step up, find yourself and become the bona fide mystic you always longed to be.
- In order to get a connection with the HGA, traditionally you had to complete a thing called the Abramelin ritual.
- This involved putting yourself into complete social seclusion for 6 months, spending your days in prayer and longing for the appearance of the angel.
- Some went mad, many gave up, but a few claimed to have done their time and made the connection.
- Over the last decades, less rigid and more focused versions of the ritual, or other means to connect to the HGA have appeared. For example, Crowley’s development of the Headless Ritual in Liber Samekh. (He named it Bornless Ritual).
- But what if the HGA isn’t necessarily an angel after all?
- What if it’s actually an emergent property of the universe, one that is usually lost beneath the low signal-to-noise ratio of everyday life?
- Back in the old days of Western esotericism, there was this thing called the Magnet of the Wise.
- Possession of the Magnet allowed the individual to attract the situations they needed for development into their life. This sounds very similar to the HGA to me.
- So, how might we get our hands on the Magnet, or make contact with our HGA? If this facility is lost beneath the busyness and distraction of everyday life, how do we find it?
- I propose a pragmatic approach – the cultivation of a range of personal strategies that slowly increase the magnet’s signal such that you begin to fall into its tractor beam.
- Let’s check though some possibilities here –
- Meditation techniques – learning how to focus your attention in an intelligent and useful manner.
- Therapies – to resolve the childhood dramas that suck your attention and energy.
- Prayer – dissolving yourself in devotional sound.
- Heartfelt longing; the backbone of the Abramelin technique – feeling your heart and longing for the appearance of the angel.
- Working with symbol sets – learning esoteric versions of Tarot, Zodiac and more.
- Visualizations – developing your inner muscles such that you can hold images in your mind for progressively longer periods.
- You needn’t do all of these; you can stick to those for which you have aptitude. But if no Magnet and no HGA are appearing, be willing to up your game and cover more bases, particularly if one really doesn’t appeal. Go there!
- Essentially, you need to exert such devotion that HGA Entropy is overcome and you find yourself guided forwards in life.
- There’s no way to categorically demonstrate that you now have the connection. But you will find developmental situations and possibilities manifesting in your life, frequently via channels from which you totally don’t expect them to come.
- Many situations may be horrible. HGAs are usually nice at first but then need to seriously get on your ass. But if you use the bad situations to understand what’s happening inside of you, you’ll find the good side and go deeper.
- And all of this points to exciting new possibilities for up our upcoming new global aeon – the Aquarian Era.
- The old, Piscean, guru-mediated approach to spiritual or mystical development is fading out of sight as gurus are mass-outed for their various dodgy behaviours.
- Replacing it will be this less centralized approach, where simply covering enough of the necessary bases will progressively bond you to your HGA or give you access to the Magnet of the Wise.
- Mysticism is getting decentralized.
